Fire-Fighting is so amazing!
Last night was so much fun. Langley Township has the best, and one of the only fire training grounds in BC. Last night we went there and drilled a car and dumpster fire. I got to be part of the team that put out the dumpster fire and I got to be a hose operator. It was such a rush. I loved it. Also last night I noticed that some of the guys realize that I have potential to do this when I'm older. Not only has my assigned mentor been great at explaining things to me, but two other fire fighters always give me inside information and make sure I know exactly what is going on and what everything means. On of the guy's is a teacher and last night he and I were talking about ways that I could prepare myself to be a fire fighter between now and when I come of age. Last night was so nice compared to last week when I heard a lot of sexist comments. I can't wait until next week!
Other highlights from my day:
Yesterday I went to school to pick up Nike so that we could hang out, like every Tuesday, before my fire fighting. It felt so weird being there.
Her and I ended up going out for lunch where we ordered virgin maragitas- or so we thought. Even though I was the one who was asking about the virgin drinks the waitress brought me a regular. I know I look older but come on! The thing is I didn't notice until the bill came and my drink was at regular price. The waitress looked horrified because she didn't ID me or anything.
What a day!
